John was brought up in Maiden Newton – a sizeable village in West Dorset. His father was the GP and, following in his footsteps, John went to medical school in London where he met his wife Janet. During his clinical years at medical school he trained as a Reader and exercised a ministry as such while moving round the country doing junior hospital jobs.

He specialised in Accident and Emergency medicine and spent 6 years in Hong Kong where he worked in a locally run Christian Hospital. When John and his family left Hong Kong in 1989 and returned to England John began his training at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, following which he served his title at St John’s Church, West Ealing. Towards the end of his curacy he led a pioneering church graft into St Mellitus with St Mark, Hanwell until moving to Cornwall in November 2013.

John and Janet have four children and 2 grandchildren and for relaxation they enjoy gardening and walking their dogs Maggie, a St Bernard and Ludo, a Large Munsterlander.

Nikki was brought up in Portsmouth, Hampshire, a historical naval city. In her late teens she lived and worked in Germany alongside the armed forces.  Upon moving back to the UK she was part of a church plant on an estate in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. From there she moved to Sheffield for 3 years to train as a Church Army Sister and following her licencing and commissioning she spent 5 years as a civilian chaplain at HMS Raleigh in Torpoint. In the summer of 2014 Nikki moved to Mirfield to begin her ordination training at the College of the Resurrection, and is looking forward to serving her title in the Parish of Wadebridge.

Nikki has two wonderful grown up children, Alex and Vicky and two rather dipsey cats – Simon and Jude. For relaxation she enjoys whiling away the hours in her shepherds’ hut, and revamping old furniture.
